Behaviour Interactive Squashes Rumour Regarding Leatherface Leaving ‘Dead by Daylight’

Those of you fearing that everyone’s favourite chainsaw-wielding cannibal in Leatherface would be leaving Dead by Daylight over the next couple of months can rest easy. Developer Behaviour Interactive has responded to the rumour, saying that Leatherface is sticking around.

A member of Behaviour Interactive’s PR team issued the following statement regarding the rumour that Leatherface would be leaving Dead by Daylight within the next few months:

“I am glad to share with you that The Cannibal is indeed staying a part of the Dead by Daylight Experience. He’s hooked on us! See you in The Fog!”

The rumour over Leatherface’s departure was sparked by Twitter fan accounts that had been looking over Dead by Daylight‘s code from the recent Public Test Build. The fan accounts had noticed changes in Leatherface’s Perk strings that gave the impression that the development team was prepping for the license for Leatherface to expire. Coupled with the fact fans had previously experienced disappointment with  Stranger Things content leaving Dead by Daylight, and with Gun Interactive’s asymmetrical horror game The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is set to be released later this year, and fans were obviously concerned.

Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight is currently in the midst of their Lunar New Year event known as Moonlight Burrow, which sees the return of Red Envelopes, the arrival of Paper Lanterns, and several Outfits to unlock. The event kicks off today and lasts until January 24th.

The Dead by Daylight is currently available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
