Blizzard Unveils Details for New Spiritborn Class for ‘Diablo IV’ Expansion “Vessel of Hatred” [Trailer]

Blizzard has dropped a bit more information and trailer for the new Spiritborn class as part of the upcoming “Vessel of Hatred” expansion for Diablo IV. The new class was revealed as part of a livestream event from the Xbox Studio with members of the Diablo IV devteam.

Hailing from the brand-new Nahantu region as part of the expansion, the Spiritborn’s history revolves around their dedication to protecting the Spirit Realm, a ghostly reflection of the world of Sanctuary where the souls of the jungle have a purpose beyond life. Masters of hand-to-hand combat, the Spiritborn can call upon the strengths of four Spirit Guardians: Jaguar, Gorilla, Eagle, and Centipede. These Spirit Guardians represent the connection between humans and the natural world.

The Spiritborn is able to take advantage of the new Skill Tag, Incarnate, to embody the traits of a Guardian and receive a passive bonus. Along with the new Skill, the Vessel of Hatred expansion will include new Legendaries and Uniques tailored to the Spiritborn expansion. These items can lean into different playstyles of the Spirit Guardians, augment or amplify skills, or amplify a player’s inherent power.

A new class quest will be available for the Spiritborn once players have reached Level 15. Embarking on this quest will allow players to become “attuned to the ways of the Spirit Guardians” and unlock the Spirit Hall. In the Spirit Hall, players are able to enhance a Spiritborn build by choosing a Primary Spirit for a special bonus and the addition of the Spirit’s Skill Tag to all Skills. At Level 30, players can choose a secondary bonus from the same Guardian or a different one that will either strengthen the bond or intertwine it with another Guardian’s mechanics.

Those attending Gamescom next month will be able to check out the first public hands-on gameplay experience of the new Spiritborn class.

Vessel of Hatred will arrive October 8 for Diablo IV players on Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.
