Silent Hill and Siren creator Keiichiro Toyama‘s first title out of the gate under Bokeh Game Studio in Slitterhead is finally out today for those of you looking for a little more action horror. The release coincides with a new video released by Bokeh Game Studio that features Slitterhead Director Junya Okura to discuss not only the mechanics of the game, but to also reflect on just how the project got here after four years.
“It is incredibly challenging to create a new studio and game, and we faced no shortage of unexpected obstacles throughout development. Our team looked this challenge in the face and have persevered, and we feel a sense of joy that we can present this game to fans,” said Bokeh Game Studio Founder and Creator Keiichiro Toyama.
“We don’t view Slitterhead as a traditional blockbuster action game or horror title, like [the game’s protagonist] Hyoki it defies easy comparisons. We hope fans will enjoy the possession mechanics and action combat as they explore Kowlong and get to know its complex residents. The story has many unexpected twists and terrifying scenarios that we hope players will face head on and without hesitation.”
Slitterhead is now available digitally for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. There’s also the physical Day 1 Edition available in North America, which includes a physical copy of Slitterhead, a CD of original songs from the game composed by Akira Yamaoka, a 100+ page artbook and a sticker sheet, all housed within a custom outer box.
And if you’re still on the fence, check out Aaron’s review of Slitterhead, which he stated as having a “good core” of a game, but several elements needed more polish in order for it to truly shine.
