To go alongside the recent developer diary, Bokeh Game Studio has dropped new details on Slitterhead. Specifically, the info includes “Rarities” characters Julee and Alex, as well as delving into the Skills you can use when possessing Rarity characters.
In Slitterhead, the player is cast as the “Hyoki,” an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as “Slitterheads” that have infested the city, disguising themselves as humans. To do so, Hyoki must seek out and possess allies among humans known as “Rarities,” infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood.
Two such Rarities that Hyoki encounters are Alex and Julee. Fatally wounded and on the brink of death, Julee was saved by Hyoki, emerging as the first “Rarity”. Shrouded in mystery, she dons a hood and mask, and uses claws made of blood to eliminate Slitterheads. Meanwhile, Alex is a skilled surgeon operating in the underworld of Kowlong by day, but at night, he is known as the ”
“Hunter.” Concealing his identity behind a full-face helmet and armed with a shotgun while riding his motorcycle, Alex relentlessly pursues the Slitterheads in the shadows.
Each Rarity possesses various skills. They can be used to unleash powerful moves during combat (Active), while some will give you advantageous effects just by possessing them (Passive). Some skills will require you to deplete your blood level (HP) to unleash powerful attacks, while some will require you to use your spirit power to activate helpful abilities, such as recovering your blood level.
Some Active Skills can be carried over and can be used even when possessing regular humans. As you play through the game, you will be able to select which Rarities to take with you on each mission. The Active Skills of the Rarities you chose will be available to use when possessing ordinary humans, becoming “Common Skills”. In addition, you can also collect Skill Tokens to enhance various skills of each Rarity.
The reveal also included details on the Kowlong Slums area. Once known as an ungoverned wasteland beyond the reach of law, this gigantic slum has been slated for demolition in a few years, leading to the forced eviction of its residents. However, many refuse to leave, having nowhere else to go.
Slitterhead will arrive November 8 digitally for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game will also see a physical PS5 “Day 1 Edition” release in North America.
