Christina Ricci is back in the horror genre with brand new movie Monstrous, which is now available in select theaters and On Demand as of today, Friday the 13th of May 2022!
Christina Ricci toplines the horror movie Monstrous, which marks the return of The Lost, All Cheerleaders Die and I Know Who Killed Me director Chris Sivertson.
In the film, “Laura (Christina Ricci), traumatized by an abusive relationship, finally runs away from her former husband with her seven-year-old son Cody. But in their new, idyllic and remote sanctuary, they find they have another, bigger and more terrifying monster to deal with…one that will test both their mental health issues to the limit.”
Chatting with Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast this week, Ricci dives deep into Monstrous while also teasing the return of “Yellowjackets” and her upcoming reunion with Tim Burton in “Wednesday,” Netflix’s live action series set in the world of The Addams Family!
“On the surface it starts like a traditional horror film, and then what is revealed… ultimately it’s a story about somebody in really intense pain. And somebody having response to a real horror in their life and sort of their trauma response. And it ends up being a really heartbreaking piece,” Ricci teases Monstrous, now available On Demand.
Ricci continues, “I love that smart connection… that horror is a manifestation of psychological and emotional pain.”
As for “Yellowjackets” Season 2, Christina Ricci says the plan is to start filming the new episodes in late summer of this year, and she’s excited to find out what Misty gets up to next.
“I don’t know what she’s gonna be doing, I don’t know anything about the season. I would assume she goes after Natalie but I’m not sure. I don’t know,” Ricci notes. “I’m just really excited. I just want to know what I get to do. The character is so fun. It’s usually pretty insane.”
Also coming soon, Ricci re-teams with Tim Burton on “Wednesday,” the first time the two have worked together since Sleepy Hollow back in 1999. Ricci is expected to play a new character in the upcoming series, with Jenna Ortega playing the role of Wednesday Addams.
“Tim is so great. He’s such a genius and his work is so incredible. What is wonderful about working with Tim Burton is that no matter what he says, you’re just like, ‘Okay sure, we’re doing that. I’ll do that.’ You completely put yourself in his hands and do whatever he wants. And it comes out brilliant. And that is a lovely, fun feeling,” Ricci explains.
