Kevin Lewis, who recently helmed the Nicolas Cage-starring cult hit Willy’s Wonderland, will next direct Christmas at the Kringles, a twisted take on the dark side of the holiday season, Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned.
To celebrate the announcement, Bloody also has an exclusive look at the sales art in which we Santa Claus rocking a chainsaw and approaching a house.
“The story follows the Seversons, a family of three living in smalltown suburbia, whose next-door neighbors, the Kringles, have one minor quirk: They celebrate Christmas all year round. Mark and Julie Severson have mixed feelings about how much time their son, Bobby, spends at the Kringles’. But it’s not until he goes missing within the confines of the Kringles’ home that they realize their neighbors—and their religion—aren’t what they seemed. The couple will embark on a life-and-death journey to find their son that not only tests who they are, but who they want to become.”
Written by Zack Imbrogno, the film comes from the newly launched genre production company Stoked Film Group.
“Christmas at the Kringles will be a batshit-crazy joy ride, using extreme color, dynamic camera movement, insane production design, and fantastic characters to create a macabre cinematic experience unlike any other,” said Lewis, who is currently in post on Screen Media’s The Accursed. “The movie will be madness right out of the box, injected with a pulsating energy to deliver a film to audiences that is soon to be a ‘Christmas cult classic’ for years to come.”
Christmas at the Kringles reunites producers K. Asher Levin and Imbrogno, who last worked together as co-writers of The Avenue/Highland Film Group’s Thomas Jane, Abigail Breslin-starring horror-comedy Slayers, which Levin also directed.
“The film captures the irreverent tone of films like Gremlins and The ’Burbs,” added Levin.
Levin will produce alongside Imbrogno, as well as Stoked Film Group partners Daniel S. Cummings and Jarnell Stokes. Executive producers include Kevin Lewis and Stoked’s long-standing partners at BondIt Media Capital, Grady Craig, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor.
