While the world is now overloaded with ridiculous conspiracy theories, one that ended up being true took place in the 1960s, when our own government put LSD in the water supply.
Under Project MK Ultra, the CIA ran an illegal human experimentation program intended to develop procedures and identify drugs such as LSD that could be used in interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture.
Based on the aforementioned CIA drug experiments from the early 1960s, the psychological thriller MK Ultra follows a brilliant psychiatrist (Anson Mount) who unknowingly becomes entangled with a dangerous government entity fixated on mind control.
While not horror, this is a crazy conspiracy thriller that’s a fun addition to your October watchlist. It is not in limited theaters and VOD platforms.
