With Aliens: Fireteam Elite‘s release creeping closer, you’re probably wondering just what classes you’ll be able to play as in the game. After all, we know what we’re up against in the types of Xenomorphs, so Cold Iron Studios shared a bit of info with PCGamer regarding three of the five character classes you’re able to choose from in the game.
Starting things off is the Demolisher, who is your heavy weapons class. Aside from carrying the standard pulse rifle, the Demolisher also wields the iconic L56A3 Smartgun. The class also makes use of a “blastwave” that will knock back enemies, and can fire salvos of “micro rockets” that can be further upgraded to have incendiary or concussive effects.
If support is more your thing, you can choose the Doc. Aside from being armed with a 50-cal handgun and pulse rifle, the obvious role of the Doc is to heal troops. The Doc can also perform buffs through the use of stims that increase accuracy, stability, stamina regeneration, and movement speed.
Lastly there’s the Recon, who comes with the ability to reveal enemy positions, as well as call in support drops for ammunition. The Recon also has the ability to boost accuracy for all members of their squad. The Recon class can also use their drones to track and debuff specific targets, or set them to defend an area. As far as their weapons go, the Recon is essentially a sniper, who also comes armed with a shotgun that can be used for close quarters combat.
The other two classes, the standard Gunner and the more utilitarian Technician, will hopefully be detailed before Aliens: Fireteam Elite launches on August 24. The title will be coming to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC via Steam.
