Those long-delayed console versions of Phasmophobia finally have a release date. Originally scheduled to arrive last August, Kinetic Games took to their Steam Community page to announce that the console versions would be arriving during the game’s in-game Halloween Event.
“Firstly we want to thank our incredibly passionate community for being patient with us while we work on the console update,” reads the update from the team. “With last year’s estimated release date ultimately being delayed, we shared the frustration with console players and had to make sure that when we announced a new release date, it was one that we could meet.”
Kinetic Games went on to say that they’ve been working closely with Unity on the console release, as well as general performance optimizations for both console and PC to ensure that the console release “runs optimally and to the high standards” the team has set for the game. “Working with [the Unity developers] means that we can work alongside them on new content for all platforms, allowing faster development of new updates.”
The plan is for future updates to Phasmophobia to be released on all platforms simultaneously to ensure that the anticipated cross-play feature is always available.
Obviously, the big news is that the PlayStation and Xbox will be getting their respective versions of Phasmophobia during the in-game Halloween Event. When that is has not yet been announced. “Once launched, all players will have access to cross-play, allowing you to play the newest version of the game with everyone, including those using VR on any platform.”
The team stated that the console versions will use the current major PC version of 0.10 for the console release. And for those who still haven’t plunked down your pennies for the game, Kinetic Games will be increasing the price of Phasmophobia to $19.99 later this year on all platforms “due to the amount of content and playtime added since the start of early access.”
Phasmophobia is currently still in Early Access on Steam, with a full release aimed for later this year.
