Fresh off of releasing The Voidness earlier this year, developer Steelkrill Studio is at it again with a new cosmic horror title called Rotten Flesh. Releasing on Steam, the game sees you on the search for Roy, your lost dog, which takes you deep into the sewers where Roy was lost. However, something else can also hear your calls in the tunnels, and they’re not exactly friendly.
The main mechanic for Rotten Flesh is using your microphone to call for Roy. If Roy hears you, he’ll bark back in response. However, it’s totally optional to use the mic, and will switch to the voice actor’s lines if you decide to turn off the mic.
As mentioned, Roy isn’t the only thing down in the sewers. Your voice also isn’t the only thing to potentially betray you, as performing actions such as walking on broken glass, moving crates or knocking over objects can give away your position. You can try to evade whatever it is down in the sewers by making use of the game’s hiding mechanics. If worst comes to worst, you do have weapons available to you, but as you might guess, they’re in short supply.
Rotten Flesh will also throw in other Survival Horror mechanics, such as limited inventory space for things like items, medkits and upgrades, as well as puzzle mechanics for you to solve.
Currently, the game is slated to enter Steam Early Access upon release.
