The long-awaited upgrade to Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown will arrive later this summer. After teasing fans earlier this year, the update for Hunt: Showdown will launch on August 15th, bringing with it a new map, CRYENGINE version 5.11, performance improvements, as new UI/UX design and more.
The announcement was accompanied by a new video from the development team behind Hunt: Showdown outlining what players can expect in the upcoming weeks.
Sadly for last-gen players (those on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), the update marks the end of support for those consoles. However, Crytek has stated that there will be a free upgrade available for those who previously purchased the game, and are moving on to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Alongside the upgrade, players can expect “a mountain of new content” this summer for Hunt: Showdown. The team will be releasing more teasers, updates, and responses to player concerns ahead of the August launch date. Week by week, the community can expect to see more about:
- Community surveys, lessons learned, and how this data will affect future events
- A sneak peek into the new UX/UI design
- Technological upgrades and performance improvements coming to Hunt via CRYENGINE 5.11 and what that means for players
- An update on the Fair Play Task Force and the steps being taken to address cheating, exploitive play, and toxic interactions
- The evolution of Hunter recruitment/ Prestige systems, as well as changes being made to the progression system
- Overall design vision for game mechanics and the decisions being made around Hunter revival, Health Chunks, restorations, burning downed Hunters, and more
Hunt: Showdown is currently available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series.
