First, from master of horror Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist), Eaten Alive has now taken a bite out of SCREAMBOX.
The ’70s killer crocodile flick features The Addams Family‘s Carolyn Jones, a pre-Freddy-Krueger Robert Englund, and Halloween‘s Kyle Richards.
In the film, “Deep in the swamps of Louisiana, disfigured psychotic Judd (Neville Brand) manages a sleazy, decaying motel. Upon learning that one of his guests is a prostitute, he promptly impales her with a pitchfork and tosses her to the crocodile that stalks the nearby waters. This is just the first in a series of slayings, and, as the croc’s belly begins to bulge with victims, people grow suspicious. Outsiders begin to poke around the motel, but Judd simply sees them as more treats for his pet.”
If you’ve never seen it, you’re in for a treat with supernatural horror Wake Wood starring Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones”) and Timothy Spall (Harry Potter franchise).
The heart-pounding film hails from revered Hammer Films and tells the story of Patrick and Louise Daley (Aiden Gillen and Eva Birthistle), whose 9-year-old daughter, Alice (Ella Connolly), is killed in a horrific dog attack. To escape their grief, the devastated young parents move to the remote rural Irish community of Wake Wood.
“Sensing Patrick and Louise’s loss, the strange people of Wake Wood introduce the couple to a bizarre pagan ritual that will bring Alice back from the grave – for three days only. The Daleys find the idea disturbing and exciting in equal measure, but once they agree to terms with Arthur, the village’s mysterious leader, a far bigger question looms: What will they do when it’s time for Alice to leave them forever?”

Written by Alberto Marini (Films to Keep You Awake: To Let), Sleep Tight is the latest film from Jaume Balagueró, director of the Calista Flockhart thriller Fragile and the modern shock classics [REC] and [REC] 2.
“Toiling silently among the residents of an everyday Barcelona apartment building, doorman César (Luis Tosar) harbors a dark secret: his sole desire in life is to make others unhappy. When he sets his sights on Clara (Marta Etura), one of his building’s cheeriest residents, his sick need blossoms into a full-fledged obsession.
“Embarking on a series of private and physical violations against Clara, César becomes determined to ruin her life by any means necessary. Becoming the boogeyman hiding under the bed and bringing her nightmares to life, his fascination with torment soon crosses the line into lunacy – and his thirst for others’ sadness soon becomes manically unquenchable.”
Sleep Tight was nominated for more than 20 awards in Spain and won six Gaudi Awards, including Best Director, Best Actor for Luis Tosar (praised as “appropriately clammy” by The New York Times’ Manohla Dargis) and Best Screenplay.
