We didn’t get much in the way of details regarding Netflix’s announcement earlier this week regarding that film adaptation of Gears of War, including just who would be playing series protagonist Marcus Fenix. Luckily, Dave Bautista has provided a bit of intrigue on Twitter, putting forward his name to star in the Gears film.
Bautista, who was part of the Gears 5 campaign a few years back, reposting a modified version of that trailer of him unpacking his armor, writing “I can’t make this any easier” with “#GearsofWar” and “#marcusfenix” in the Tweet.
Bautista’s tweet comes after Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski earlier in the week put forward the Dune and Blade Runner 2049 star’s name as Marcus after the initial Netflix announcement.
As of right now, neither Netflix or current Gears developer The Coalition (which is working with Netflix to develop the film adaptation, as well as an adult animated series) has responded to Bautista’s tweet, nor have they revealed any further information regarding the adaptation outside of the initial announcement.
Fingers crossed that Netflix and The Coalition can make this work after the previous attempts to adapt the acclaimed action shooter fell through.
The latest entry in the Gears series, 2019’s Gears 5, is available on the Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.
