Jack Black is reteaming with the Farrelly Brothers (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary, Kingpin, Shallow Hal) for the Christmas comedy Dear Santa, which centers on a kid who accidentally writes a letter to… Satan. It’s a family-friendly affair rather than any kind of horror movie, but you can watch the official trailer for Dear Santa below.
Jack Black is NOT Santa this holiday season.
Dear Santa comes to Paramount+ and Digital on November 25, 2024.
In the upcoming Dear Santa, “When a young boy mails his Christmas wish list to Santa with one crucial spelling error, a devilish Jack Black arrives to wreak havoc on the holidays.”
Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech and Austin Post star alongside Jack Black in the holiday comedy.
Director Bobby Farrelly tells Entertainment Weekly, “We never wanted to make it a horror movie or something like that. We wanted it to be comical. So it was a delicate ball of playing this iconic character but doing it in a way that the audience can have some fun with it.”
You may recall a SYFY Original horror movie released back in 2020 that was titled Letters to Satan Claus, which featured a very similar storyline. But it’s important to note that Dan Ewen’s spec screenplay for Dear Santa was actually purchased way back in 2012 for the Farrelly Brothers. At the time, the project was titled Dear Satan. Over ten years later, it’s finally here.
