Developer Midnight Forge will have gamers experiencing Nordic horror with their upcoming narrative mystery/Survival Horror title Nowhere. In fact, the developer will be releasing a new demo this Thursday, August 15 on Steam to give gamers a taste of this unique tale on Norse mythology, and have released a new trailer to coincide with the upcoming demo.
Set deep within the forests of Norway, Nowhere sees players step into the hiking boots of a detective on the hunt for a group of missing tourists. It quickly becomes apparent that there’s more to the tourists’ disappearance than what was initially thought. The investigation soon takes on a supernatural twist, plunging players headfirst into a terrifying spin on Norse mythology that will see them piece together the doomed story of the gods after Ragnarök.
A blend of detective mystery and Survival Horror, Nowhere features a non-linear open world, allowing players to explore all the atmospheric and creepy locations across the forests. You’ll also be utilizing realistic investigation mechanics, having you to make your own connections and work things out for yourself. This includes searching for clues and inspecting sites of interest. Beware though: At the sound of a horn in the distance, the forest around you twists and corrupts into a nightmare version of itself. Otherworldly creatures will stalk you from the shadows, waiting until your back is turned, forcing you to either have to fight or flee.
Thursday’s demo will feature approximately 20-30 minutes of gameplay, serving up just a taste of what will be available in the full game. Players will investigate multiple sites of interest as they begin to piece together the puzzling disappearance of the missing campers and uncover the secrets of an archaic and haunting ritual. It won’t be easy though, as those aforementioned unimaginable horrors lurk within the shadows beneath the pines.
