Every season of “Stranger Things” brings with it new threats and “Stranger Things 4” will be no exception. In addition to lead villain Vecna, a Freddy Krueger-inspired monster, we’ll be introduced to the Demo Bats, the latest evolution of the Demogorgon.
The Demogorgon was of course the original creature from the first season of “Stranger Things,” and later the four-legged Demo Dogs were unleashed. The Demo Bats, as you’d probably expect, are the flying versions of the Demogorgon creature, and hundreds of them are seen flying around the mysterious Creel House in this week’s official Season 4 trailer.
That trailer was broken down moment-by-moment by “Stranger Things” creators the Duffer Brothers for a video from IGN this week, wherein they teased the winged Demo Bats.
They explain, “We always love our monsters, and we wanted a new different type of monster. And so we’ve introduced Demo Bats… we’ve got our Demogorgon, we’ve got our Demo Dogs, and so this is the flying version of that. Maybe alone one of them is not too dangerous, but when there’s a bunch of them it can get very very scary, very very quickly.”
“We’re very excited for people to meet our Demo Bats. It’s kind of got a gothic, vampire quality to it,” the brothers continue. You can watch the full IGN breakdown video below.
“Stranger Things 4” comes to Netflix on May 27, 2022 with “Volume One” of the latest season. Volume 2 of “Stranger Things 4” will then arrive on Netflix on July 1, 2022.
