Developer Sonka is giving fans a taste of what’s to come with their in-development Survival Horror title, Holstin. Announced back in December of last year, the team has now released a demo on Steam for the Resident Evil and Silent Hill-inspired title, as well as a new gameplay trailer demonstrating the game’s ability to switch up from an overhead perspective to an over-the-shoulder view to get up close and personal with the various monsters you’ll be facing.
Set in 90s Poland, Holstin is set in the eerie, isolated lakeside town of Jeziorne-Kolonia, where an ominous presence has slowly enveloped everything and everyone. A close colleague of yours came here looking for answers to a story they found in the newspapers. But after a series of incoherent and troubling messages, contact with them was abruptly cut off. Now you need to venture into this town to find out the truth and the fate of your friend.
Seeing as this is a Survival Horror title, you’ll be scavenging supplies and weapons in Holstin to fight off the monsters that lurk in the town. As well, you’ll be chatting it up with the locals for answers. However, given whatever it is that’s currently got a grip on the town, the people in Jeziorne-Kolonia aren’t quite all there. Still, those still conscious in this void of a town are willing to help, though teetering on the brink of insanity and having to answer some of your questions might not be the best idea.
