Sure, traditional tabletop games are fun and all, but sometimes nothing beats a good card game. Especially if said card game is something like Demoniac: The Possessive Card Game. Described as a love letter to the demonic possession genre by designer Steven Tartick, Demoniac is currently prepping for a Kickstarter launch next month.
The object of Demoniac: The Possessive Card Game is simple: as a minion of the underworld, it’s your goal to possess the other player or players. You’ll start by turning your victim into a demoniac, using possessions to consume their mind and body. You’ll then need to defeat the Holy Exorcist, whose divinity will attempt to thwart all of your evil work. The aim is to be the first to conquer goodness and snatch the exorcist’s soul.
Meanwhile, the previously-mentioned Holy Exorcist will be looking to thwart your attempts. The Holy Exorcist has a bible, church choir, and guitar-armed youth pastor to thwart your evil deeds. You’ll need to withstand their attacks, all the while powering up your demoniac with evil spirits to target the exorcist’s spiritual weaknesses.
Featuring over 100 original illustrations by Evangeline Gallagher, Demoniac makes references to new and classic films of the demonic possession genre, including The Exorcist (naturally), The Evil Dead, The Nun and more.
Ahead of the launch of the Kickstarter, you can head over to the game’s official site to check out more info about Demoniac, as well as sign up for updates.
