Known for their Outbreak series of games, developer Dead Drop Studios has switched up zombies for dinosaurs with their new spiritual successor to Dino Crisis in Dinobreak. Available today on PC and consoles, the devs aren’t fooling around when it comes to paying tribute to Dino Crisis: Dinobreak outright warns you that it looks, plays, and sounds like a Survival Horror (or Panic Horror, if you want to get technical) game made in 1999.
As expected, Dinobreak‘s story is pretty simple. You play as Lydia, one of the people in city of Cypress Ridge, which just so happens to have a dinosaur problem. Together with other survivors, Lydia looks to uncover the origins of the onslaught, all the while trying to find a way out. The game contains the hallmarks of Capcom’s Panic Horror classic: Cheesy acting, “extreme” gore, inventory and resource management, the option of using fixed camera angles and tank controls and, of course, plenty of scares.
Unlike Dino Crisis, Dinobreak features a single-player campaign as well as two-player co-op. The game also sports an arcade mode called Operation: Feral Raptor that’s described as “a non-stop action packed bonus mode across the entire city”.
Dinobreak is available now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
Thanks to RelyOnHorror for the heads up!
