After telling fans just how good the game is, developer Brass Token has decided to show it for The Chant with a brand new trailer that focuses on the gameplay. Creative Director Mike Skupa provides narration over the trailer, setting up The Chant‘s story before diving into the mechanics of the game.
“This gameplay video explains how we’ve combined survival, action, and exploration mechanics to create a distinct cult cosmic horror experience,” says Skupa. In addition to walking players through some different areas of Glory Island, Skupa also touches on the game’s Mind, Body and Spirit system, which are dependent on actions you take in the game, and determine how the story of The Chant concludes.
You’ll also be collecting, crafting, and unlocking the mysteries of the past, all the while surviving against the various threats both in and out of The Gloom. Fight or flight is crucial to survival as you balance resources, spiritual weapons, and abilities against the creatures of The Gloom, not to mention the cultists on the island.
On top of the gameplay trailer, digital pre-orders for The Chant are now live. Bonuses for pre-orders include a 1970s themed in-game VFX filter mode, and an exclusive 1970s inspired spiritual retreat outfit. There’s also the physical Limited Edition goodies (hit up the official site for more info on those) that include the game’s psychedelic soundtrack designed by the renowned composer Paul Ruskay and The Glory Island Art Book.
The Chant launches on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on November 3.
