If you’ve been wondering just how Dune‘s return to strategy games is going to look after that initial reveal at TGA 2021, developer Shiro Games and publisher Funcom have released a new gameplay trailer for Dune: Spice Wars showing just that for.
“This is a universe we care deeply about, and there are millions of fans out there who feel the same strong connection with the source material as we do,” said Sebastien Vidal, CEO of Shiro Games. “We’re die-hard Dune and strategy nerds, so this is very much a game by fans, for the fans.”
Also announced was the narrowing of Dune: Spice Wars‘ release date on PC via Steam. Originally announced as a 2022 PC Early Access release, Shiro Games and Funcom have stated that players can expect Spice Wars to release this spring. The game will first launch into Early Access on Steam with several updates planned thereafter, including the introduction of multiplayer, more factions, and a full campaign.
In fact, Shiro recently unveiled one of said factions in House Harkonnen, which you can read up about on the game’s Steam page.
