New Blood Interactive and developer David Szymanski have decided to finally treat PlayStation 4 owners today with the announcement that their acclaimed throwback FPS DUSK is finally available on Sony’s last-gen console via the PlayStation Store. The game is also playable on the PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.
While the store listing doesn’t state it, it’s safe to assume that the PlayStation version of DUSK will include the quality of life improvements that were added to the Switch version of the game (such as a weapon wheel, an improved world map, improved controller bindings, and classic HUD). These improvement were carried over to the PC version in a later update.
Speaking of the PC version, New Blood Interactive has decided to go against DUSK‘s original throwback aesthetic in a recent announcement for DUSK HD, a completely optional and free “full visual remaster” of DUSK. The update will sport remade enemies, weapons, models and textures, and is expected to arrive around December with the SDK.
To be clear, the HD models, textures, weapons, etc will all be available on the Steam Workshop as free downloads, and not integrated into the base game until you install them. As an extra treat (because that’s what good devs do), David Szymanski is making it so that you will be able to use both the old and these new assets to create anything you want with the SDK, and upload your creations to the workshop as well! You can get a glimpse of what to expect from the teaser below.
And if you’re curious as to what David is up to next, keep an eye out for the Manhunt-inspired Butcher’s Creek.
