Easter Egg in ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ Hints at Possible New ‘The Evil Within’ Entry?

While we never did get The Evil Within 3 (which it turns out, eventually became Ghostwire: Tokyo), a recent Easter Egg found in developer Tango Gameworks’ newest game seems to hint that we may still get it.

Per GamesRadar, fans have noted that Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, which was released back in January for consoles and PC, has several references to The Evil Within series. Notably, however, is a newly uncovered Easter Egg that seemingly teases The Evil Within 3, or at least a new entry in the series.

During the cinematic preceding Track 11: The Needle Drop, you are shown taking an elevator ride to meet up with the game’s final boss. Just as the elevator reaches its destination, there’s a split-second look at a screen that shows you’ve arrived at floor 776. At the bottom of the screen in small print is a feed with the weather and news. Next to “news” reads: “Sequel to popular survival horror franchise anounced [sic].”

You can check out the footage below with the timestamp.

Obviously, this is not a clear confirmation that The Evil Within 3 is in the works, as Tango Gameworks may just be messing with fans. Plus, the the fact that “announced” was misspelt, it could be all a joke. However, you would hope that the “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” nature of this Easter Egg, coupled with all of the other references, that the developer has eyes on revisiting the Survival Horror series.

Making things even more interesting is that work has already started on Tango Gameworks’ next project following Ghostwire: Tokyo‘s release last year, with The Evil Within 2 director John Johanas.
