It’s that time of year once again. The nominees have been announced for The Game Awards 2022, and to no one’s surprise, From Software’s Elden Ring (read our review here) and Sony’s God of War Ragnarok have grabbed the lion’s share of nominations.
The latest Soulslike has earned the coveted Game of the Year nomination, alongside Focus Entertainment’s A Plague Tale: Requiem (which has five nominations of its own), Sony’s God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, Annapurna Interactive’s Stray, and Nintendo’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3. In all, Elden Ring has been nominated seven times across seven categories, with God of War Ragnarok being nominated eleven times in ten categories. A Plague Tale: Requiem is right in the middle with five nominations.
Other nominees include Ebb Software’s Scorn, which has a nomination in Best Art Direction, The Outsiders’ Metal: Hellsinger in Best Score and Music, Devolver Digital’s Cult of the Lamb in Best Indie Game (alongside Stray and Vampire Survivors), and Blizzard’s Diablo Immortal for Best Mobile Game. Even Supermassive Games’ The Quarry gets a nod in the Innovation in Accessibility category, alongside Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part I.
Fans can vote now in all categories via the official website, which will end on December 7 at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET. The Game Awards 2022 ceremony itself will air the next day on December 8 via Twitch, YouTube and more.
