After teasing players this past February with the reveal, Developer Dark Panda has announced that they’re teaming up with Equinox Games to co-develop the former’s upcoming Saw-inspired Survival Horror experience Psycho Fear.
According to the press release, the deal “aims to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to deliver a next-level gaming experience to players worldwide.” Equinox Games is no stranger to the industry, having been a co-developer on a variety of titles, including Cuphead and Hyper Scape. Equinox Games’ focus in particular is on the multiplayer component, which given the co-op ambitions of Psycho Fear, seems like a no-brainer.
In Psycho Fear, players are trapped and must use their wits in order to escape the clutches of a twisted psychopath and survive. With a heavy emphasis on puzzle-solving, players (who can either go in solo or team up in three-player co-op) will need to explore their environment, collect items, and interact with various objects in order to find a way out of the traps.
Each trap is designed to test the player’s skills and intelligence, ranging from simple puzzles to more elaborate. You’ll be required to think creatively and “outside the box” in order to escape.
Psycho Fear is currently set to be released on Steam in Q2 2024. There will be a demo next month to give you a taste of what to expect ahead of the game’s launch.
