Today JanduSoft has unleashed their escape room horror title Scholar’s Mate on PC via Steam. The game will also be coming to PlayStation and Xbox players, although the developer has announced a short delay with “good news” coming very soon.
Described as “an immersive first-person horror experience”, Scholar’s Mate puts you in the shoes of Judith, a young woman who wakes up in a seemingly deserted psychiatric hospital. Of course, that soon changes, as Judith soon finds herself pursued by a man named Eddie, who had kidnapped Judith and has locked her in the hospital. As a result, Judith must not only find her way out, but also avoid a horrible fate at the hands of Eddie.
In order to escape, Judith will need to explore and solve the hidden secrets of the hospital. And this would be simple if Eddie wasn’t constantly stalking Judith around every corner and corridor of the hospital. As one might expect from a good antagonist in this type of game, Eddie can hear you as well as see you. Meaning you’ll need to exercise caution when moving around, as he can hear you if you run, and using your flashlight is a giveaway, too.
The whole experience is wrapped up in the soundtrack and immersive sound effects, which only heighten the atmosphere.
And in case you’re undecided, there’s also a demo for Scholar’s Mate available for you to check out.
