It’s Evil Dead Week as director Lee Cronin will see his brand new movie Evil Dead Rise (read Bloody Disgusting’s review here) open in theaters this Friday.
Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead 2013 was one of the bloodiest films I’ve ever seen in my life and this new sequel appears to be following suit. It’s going to be a total bloodbath…
In this exclusive clip, a mother and her daughter are trapped in an elevator as a pool of blood floods in. To make matters worse, Deadites are crawling in from above, chanting “Dead by dawn,” a callback to Sam Raimi’s original trilogy. The clip ends with the elevator doors busting open and TONS OF BLOOD splashing out, an obvious homage to The Shining.
Meagan Navarro raves in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “A fantastic pair of leads in Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland, combined with an endless slew of franchise tributes and unhinged levels of viscera, ensure a gruesomely great time at the movies.”
Preview the bloodbath in the Bloody Disgusting Exclusive clip below…
“In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”
Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End) and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) star alongside Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan.
Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert are producing Evil Dead Rise. According to Campbell, the three have been “very involved” in the project every step of the way.
