Publisher eastasiasoft and developer SUZAKU Games have a new Survival Horror title on the way with SENSEs: Midnight, a semi-sequel to 2020’s Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story. The game is expected to be released on Steam on July 22, with console versions “later this year”.
The story for SENSEs centers around outgoing college student Uesugi Kaho, who also just happens to be a member of her school’s occult research club. When returning to Japan for a family visit, club members dare Kaho to investigate an infamous urban legend: The Midnight Door of Ikebukuro Walking Park. Hoping to prove the legend to be true, and get definitive proof of the paranormal, Kaho agrees and enters the long-abandoned park to investigate. You can guess what happens next.
Similar to the previous game in the series, SENSEs: Midnight is inspired by Survival Horror classics, which includes tank controls, area-specific saves, and fixed camera angles “in nostalgic style”. Players will be uncovering the secrets of the park through environmental storytelling and lore, all the while managing their inventory to avoid backtracking, solving puzzles that may reward you with necessary items (but also potentially alert vengeful spirits), and use hiding spots to temporarily elude enemies a la Clock Tower.
If you’re keen on getting into the series before SENSEs: Midnight is released, you can snag Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story for a 40% discount during the remaining days of the Steam Summer Sale.
