If you’re looking for a darker take on Sons of The Forest, then IndieGala’s upcoming Survival Horror title Vorax will fit that bill. Set for release Q1 2024, the devs have released a new gameplay trailer showing off the game’s story, as well as news on the game’s roadmap for future updates and enhancements.
Vorax is set on a Mediterranean island that’s been besieged by a mysterious pathogen that’s turned the local populace into horrifying monsters. An army battalion sent to quarantine the population has predictably lost all communication. As a merc sent to investigate, your helicopter crashes on the island, stranding you with low supplies. You’ll need to craft tools, build barricades, fences, and traps as well as find, upgrade, and maintain your shelter to survive while trying to discover the origins of the virus.
As for future plans for Vorax, the team plans on introducing vehicles to the game that will make traversing the map that much easier. That’s probably a good thing, as IndieGala also intends to expand the map’s size for further exploration. The team will also be adding “monster nests” that will provide players with a constant threat of enemies. Speaking of enemies, there will also be new enemies added to the game, along with ranged weapons with explosives for you to use to help even the odds.
And to keep with the survival aspect, Vorax will also see enhancements and additions to its crafting system, including the ability for players to make gunpowder and bullets. Lastly, Vorax will launch with a hefty 40 quests available to players that will take you over the entirety of the island.
Currently, you can check out the free demo for Vorax, as well as wishlist it on Steam.
