With DreadXP’s My Friendly Neighborhood arriving in two weeks’ time, you’re probably wanting to see the game in action. And if for whatever reason you still haven’t downloaded the demo for My Friendly Neighborhood from Steam, IGN has a video preview of the first 30 minutes of the nightmarish first-person title.
The video introduces players to Gordon, a repairman who’s last job of the day is to investigate why a vacant studio lot suddenly regained power and began televising the children’s TV show “The Friendly Neighborhood” overtop of the City Network Broadcasting Group’s normal programming. You quickly realize that something strange is going on at 123 Sunrise Street.
Maybe it’s the purple gunk blocking the elevator doors. Maybe it’s the sock puppet receptionist. Maybe it’s Norman, the puppet you quickly find out is more hostile than friendly.
Pegged as “Resident Evil meets ‘Sesame Street’” by IGN, you can definitely see references to the former in the footage. The ones that jump out immediately are in the door transitions, the item collecting, and the way your inventory is organized.
My Friendly Neighborhood arrives on PC via Steam on July 20th. The PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series versions will be coming at a later date.
