After launching into Early Access on Steam last month, Treetop’s comedy horror co-op title Terrorbytes already has its first major update. Along with the usual tweaks and bug fixes, the update includes new environments and terrors to face while you’re on the run from Ms Croak-Man.
This latest update offers enhanced performance boosts for Terrorbytes, and adds two new remixed, damaged environments. In addition, you’ll also be face with two new anomalies, including The Mannequin, which is your common “weeping angel” phantom who moves only when you’re not looking at it, and the Jester, who dances for you and really just wants attention. Or he gets frustrated and kills you.
Inspired by Tron, Stranger Things, and Lethal Company, Terrorbytes follows four teenagers who get sucked into a haunted arcade cabinet and forced to gather pellets for the horrifically mangled retro arcade hero Ms. Croak-Man.
In Terrorbytes, all players share the same energy pool, which is used for all actions, including sprinting. As a result, you’ve got to work as a team to collect pellets and keep your energy reserves in check, all while being hunted by arcade anomalies. There’s also plenty of cool upgrades and special items, ranging from a humble flashlight, to a satisfying power washer, to map-room upgrades that allow players to spawn helpful arrows, decoys, or broadcast their voice to other players.
