After making over $400 million at the worldwide box office, a sequel to Dune – as planned – is on the way, and we’ve learned that Florence Pugh is in talks for a role in the sequel.
Deadline reports that Florence Pugh (Midsommar) is in negotiations to play “Princess Irulan Corrino, the eldest daughter to Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV” in the Dune sequel.
Virginia Madsen played the character in David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation.
Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya and Josh Brolin will return for Dune: Part 2, which is once again set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Legendary and Warner Bros. will release Dune: Part 2 on October 20, 2023.
Released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max last year, Dune opened to $41 million domestically, ending its run with $108 million domestically and $400 million worldwide.
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
The cast includes Timothée Chalamet‘s Paul Atreides, Josh Brolin‘s Gurney Halleck, Oscar Isaac‘s Duke Leto, Rebecca Ferguson‘s Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem‘s Stilgar, Zendaya‘s Chani, Sharon Duncan-Brewster‘s Liet-Kynes and Jason Momoa’s Duncan Idaho.
