Fossil Games (the folks behind Sunshine Manor, Camp Sunshine, and the recently-released Abandonware: The Horror Collection) and publisher Hound Picked Games claim that their new pixel-based game SiCK “is going to scare you.” And seeing as from the description on its Steam page that SiCK is a “narrative-driven” horror adventure game that focuses on creeping tension rather than jump scares, there’s a very real chance that they’re right.
SiCK centres on an unnamed woman who awakens in a seemingly abandoned motel, stranded without any form of transport, and seven months pregnant. The phone starts to ring and questions begin to be asked by whomever is on the other end. How did you get there? Using classic adventure game mechanics including collecting and using items in order to solve puzzles, you will unlock new chapters as you progress, and ultimately discover what is going on.
“We believe that SiCK is unlike any other horror game out there, what is truly lying underneath the story and gameplay is … well … disturbing,” says Fossil Games. “You have been warned, this story driven survival horror adventure is not for the faint of heart.”
