Fans of Slitherine’s Starship Troopers: Terran Command have got themselves a rather hefty update to devour today. The free Chemical Reaction update is designed to spotlight the newly introduced high-score system, and includes new scenarios, a new unit type, and what’s referred to as the Target Priority Setting.
The new scenarios see you battling Arachnid while making use of the new Chemical Troopers unit. You’ll be battling bugs that have broken loose in a chemical lab with one mission, while the other sees you leading a squad to clear out a canyon that’s just crawling with Arachnid. The third mission is a Survival map, where you’ll have Mobile Infantry defending an industrial complex against waves of bugs. Killing bugs will grant you “requisition points,” which can be used to request new units, open gates to new areas, or increase your War Support.
The Chemical Troopers is currently only available in the new scenarios, but there are plans to include it in future content as well. It’s a squad of expert troopers using biochemical weapons, which they use to great effect for exterminating anything with more than two legs.
Lastly, Starship Troopers: Terran Command introduces a new Target Priority setting (TPS) feature, which allows players to set units to prioritize firing at specific enemy types instead of aiming for the nearest target. For instance, if you want to automatically target Spitter Bugs with your Snipers, TPS allows you to avoid that level of micromanagement.
“An incredible amount of constructive feedback backed the tremendous success of Starship Troopers. Our first goal is to address a big part of that feedback by giving players content they want to play and reconnect them with the game as much as we can”, said Marco A. Minoli, CMO at Slitherine. “The development studio, The Artistocrats, are working hard to improve the game, create more content, and increase replayability, while keeping the community active and captivated”.
Currently, Starship Troopers: Terran Command is available on Steam after being released this past June. And if you’re looking for more Starship Troopers content on the heels of the film’s 25th anniversary, check out the latest Horror Queers Podcast.
