Fresh Screenshots Released for Nightdive’s Upcoming ‘The Thing: Remastered’

Just in case you weren’t aware, it’s the 22nd anniversary of the North American release of Computer Artworks’ cult classic The Thing video game for PC, Xbox and the PlayStation 2. And just in case you weren’t aware, Nightdive Studios has been hard at work on the remaster, which is due out later this year. And to celebrate the 22nd anniversary, Nightdive has shared a new look at The Thing: Remastered with some new screenshots.

The Thing: Remastered is being touted as a faithful restoration of the 2002 third-person survival horror shooter inspired by John Carpenter‘s 1982 classic, The Thing. Nightdive Studios has gone back and upgraded the original game for the modern era via its proprietary KEX Engine, boasting up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS.

As you can see from the screenshots, improvements have also been made to character models, and textures. In addition, the animations have been hand-crafted by Nightdive Studios, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects.

And just in case you missed it, check out Nightdive going into the guts of the remaster in the June episode of their “Deep Dive” podcast.

The Thing: Remastered arrives later this year on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
