If you’ve ever wanted to have a little horror mixed in with your RTS, Ravenscourt and Wild Forest Studio’s upcoming Night is Coming will fit the bill. Announced during Gamescom 2021, the survival city-builder mashup arrives next year for PC via Steam.
Night is Coming adds a twist on traditional survival city-builders by setting the game in a dark fantasy setting, and throwing in some good old bloody combat. On top of the common management mechanics of the genre to set up a working “society,” players will have to not only contend with the impending approach of winter, but also monsters and other creatures of the night.
The game offers up RPG elements when it comes to your settlers with their different preferences/aversions. That all takes a back seat when night falls, as you’ll be faced with monsters based in Slavic mythology attacking your settlements. You’ll have to assign soldiers, build defensive structures, and use magic to ward off creatures. Oh, and you’ll have to contend with keeping your settlers sane the entire time.
