Empty Clip Studios’ upcoming remaster of the classic Gargoyles game on the Sega Genesis has a release date. Gargoyles Remastered will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG on October 19, per Gematsu.
Announced last September, Gargoyles Remastered will feature “enhanced visuals, animations, and SFX” inspired by the classic animated Disney series. The game will also feature modern amenities, such as achievements, widescreen display, and the ability to rewind your gameplay. You’ll also be able to toggle seamlessly between the remastered graphics and the 16-bit originals. The soundtrack composed by Michael Giacchino and Patrick J. Collins has also been remastered.
For you physical media types, Limited Run Games will also be doing a physical version of Gargoyles Remastered.
Released in November 1995 for the Sega Genesis (a Super Nintendo version was planned but ultimately cancelled), Gargoyles loosely followed the plot of the show. The game sees Goliath on a mission to destroy the Eye of Odin, a magical talisman which can transform whomever possesses it. Meanwhile, Demona, the most recent owner of the Eye, seeks to foil Goliath.
