Not to be outdone by Gamescom, WB Games and NetherRealm dropped another reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, announcing General Shao and Sindel as the latest playable characters joining the main roster. In addition, the trailer also reveals two additional Kameo Fighters in Motaro and Shujinko.
Entitled “Rulers of Outworld”, the trailer also provides a bit of story for the game, introducing Raiden as Earthrealm’s champion. He’s not quite the Thunder God we all know and love, but the moveset is still electrifying as ever.
The new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer also introduces an alternate version of Shao before he was bestowed the title of Kahn. As supreme ruler of Outworld’s army, General Shao has proven loyalty to his realm through countless victories in battle. And unlike the version of Shao we all know and love, this version wields a battle axe (and makes good use of it).
Meanwhile, Sindel is the empress of Outworld who fights to protect her family and empire with the ability to vanquish enemies with her mystifying hair, piercing scream, and power of levitation. And yes, we get a glimpse of Sindel’s fatality that could be seen as borrowing from Sub-Zero’s first Mortal Kombat fatality (you’ll see).
Mortal Kombat 1 enters the arena on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
