Announced earlier this year, the feature film score for Ti West‘s highly-anticipated X has been scored by none other than Tyler Bates, who also collaborated with Chelsea Wolfe on the project!
A24 announced today that the whirlwind score by “west coast goth queen” (Rolling Stone) drops on March 25th, one week after X hits theaters, from Sargent House.
Chelsea Wolfe transforms Arthur Field’s 1918 “Oui Oui Marie” into a woozy, eerie ballad, with her vocals seething and simmering beneath folksy guitar strums.
Wolfe is coming off the release of Bloodmoon: I, a celebrated collaboration with Converge that topped many site’s albums of the year lists. Bates, of course, is a titan in the music industry and scored everything from John Wick to Halloween and even Dawn of the Dead.
This isn’t the first time Bates has collaborated with West as he composed the score to the filmmaker’s 2013 The Sacrament.
Set in 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives. X arrives nationwide on March 18.
