The Ghostbusters family is back together in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, now available on Digital HD and coming to 4K and Blu-ray on February 1st. Not just on the screen, with all the legacy cast members returning for either short cameos or full-on roles, but also behind the camera.
The new movie, a sequel to the original classic, was directed by Jason Reitman, who just so happens to be the son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbusters movies.
In a touching new featurette debuted this week, that “Family Reunion” aspect of the new movie is explored, focusing on the “legacy” approach of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Producer Ivan Reitman explains, “I’ve always thought the Ghostbusters ended up an extended family of their own, and in a strange way, because of the death of Harold Ramis, that family got broken. And so this Afterlife script seemed to tie these ideas together.”
The video also features insights from Annie Potts, who’s back as Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Sigourney Weaver, reprising the role of Dana Barrett/Venkman.
From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.
Don’t forget: Ghostbusters The Ultimate Collection also releases on February 1!
