While many films have been struggling at the box office here in 2024, Legendary’s Monsterverse is showing no signs of slowing down. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the fifth installment in the franchise universe that began with Godzilla 10 years ago, was a massive hit earlier this year, and now it’s officially the Monsterverse’s highest grossing movie of all time.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire just hit $570 million at the worldwide box office over the weekend, $200 million of which ($196.3 million, to be exact) was made here in the U.S.!
Here’s how it stacks up against the other four Monsterverse movies…
- Godzilla (2014) – $524.9 million
- Kong: Skull Island (2017) – $568.6 million
- Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) – $387.3 million
- Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) – $470.1 million
- Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) – $570 million
Legendary and Warner Bros. are still all-in on the Monsterverse, for obvious reasons, with an untitled sixth movie already in development and TV show “Monarch” getting a second season.
Stay tuned for more on the ever-growing Monsterverse as we learn it.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is now available at home.
