Today’s the day for console owners looking to get in on Andrade Games’ gory sidescrolling action title Heidelberg 1693, which has launched on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series. We’ve also been graced with the customary launch trailer for Heidelberg 1693, which while short, provides the necessary bloody and hectic gameplay that PC gamers have been enjoying since the game launched on Steam last year.
Set in a zombie-infested version of 17th century Germany, Heidelberg 1693 sees the player take control of one of French King Louis XIV’s famous musketeers. As war ravages Europe, Louis XIV’s own son, poisoned and left for dead, emerges from the smoke and ashes of Germany’s battlefields. Turning to diabolical and forbidden sciences, the self-proclaimed “Moon King” raises an undead army with revenge on his mind. It’s up to you to battle the undead using your trusty musket.
The game adds a layer of tactical combat to the genre by introducing the weapon of choice of musketeers: the musket. Players will be able to fire one powerful – and very effective- musket shot at a time. The weapon must be used wisely because of its long reset time though. Featuring real locations and historical figures across multiple paths and endings, with animated cutscenes inspired by silent era films.
For you physical media junkies (don’t worry, I’m one of them), you can hit up Red Art Games’ official store to purchase a Switch or PlayStation version of Heidelberg 1693.
