Slash rejoining Guns N’ Roses back in 2016 was one of the biggest things to happen in the music world. All of the children who grew up listening to “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “November Rain”, “You Could Be Mine”, along with others, could finally see one of their favorite bands in its original form live. However, new music has never been set in stone. And after nearly six years, it started the feel like a pipe dream…until now.
Guns N’ Roses just surprise-released a “new” song, “Absurd”, a reworking of a track from the Chinese Democracy era that was studio-recorded with Slash. While the track itself dates back to 2001 (it was originally written by Dizzy Reed and Chris Pittman, and performed as “Silkworms”), it’s time to get hyped.
Is this a signal that Guns N’ Roses has a fully recorded new album on the horizon? The holidays are just around the corner and if I remember correctly, Chinese Democracy was a surprise release just one week before Black Friday in 2008.
Here’s “Absurd” with an awesome visual that gives Medussa the Exorcist treatment.
