Fans of Frictional Games’ Amnesia: The Bunker won’t have to wait very long for that Halloween update that was teased last month. Frictional Games’ Fredrik Olsson took to X to let players know (in the goofiest way possible) that fans can expect the free update to arrive Wednesday, October 25.
Olsson’s brief video has him with the stereotypical red lights and distorted “evil” voice, telling fans that they’ll be able to enjoy the Halloween content for Amnesia: The Bunker later this week. That content includes a new Shell Shocked mode, which will remove all of the little safeguards in the game (such as making the Admin Office safe rooms out of breakable wood), making you more vulnerable to the monster that pursues you.
Shell Shocked mode will also add more randomizations with lockers, corpses, dog tags and bunker rats. Meaning, you’ll need to hunt down those mission-critical lockers elsewhere, and that also includes your pistol.
It’s not clear if the Custom mode, which Olsson had hinted at on X, will be added around the same time as Shell Shocked. From the teaser videos, this mode will allow players to fine-tune their experience by enabling and disabling aspects of Shell Shocked.
Amnesia: The Bunker is current available for the Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
