The legendary Hammer Studios will relaunch with a brand new upcoming take on the classic Doctor Jekyll, which features Eddie Izzard in the starring role as Nina Jekyll.
From director Joe Stephenson, we’ve learned courtesy of Variety that principal photography on Hammer’s Doctor Jekyll has now wrapped, with more casting news announced.
“In the film, a modern interpretation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s iconic 1886 novella “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde,” Eddie Izzard plays Dr. Nina Jekyll, a recluse who finds friendship with her newly hired help, Rob, played by emerging actor Scott Chambers (“Chicken”). They must work together to prevent Hyde from destroying her life.”
The cast also includes Lindsay Duncan (“Birdman,” “Le Week-End”), Simon Callow (“Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “Shakespeare In Love”), Jonathan Hyde (“Titanic,” “Jumanji”), Tony Jayawardena (“The Crown”) and Robyn Cara (“The Rising,” “Ackley Bridge”).
“The production is expected to target a fall festival birth,” Variety also notes.
Dan Kelly-Mulhern wrote the script for Hammer’s Doctor Jekyll. The film from the B Good Picture Company was recently acquired for UK release by the relaunched Hammer Studios.
