Just like in film, the music and sound for a video game can potentially make or break the experience for the player. Sumo Digital and Gun Interactive know this, and today have unveiled the theme for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Composed by BAFTA Nominated composer Ross Tregenza (who also did the score for Deathloop, Cyberpunk 2077 and Wolfenstein:Youngblood) and featuring Gun Interactive’s CEO Wes Keltner, the theme accompanies in-game shots of the Farm House map. And as intended, it helps to build the environment itself, not to mention puts immediate dread and tension into the seemingly peaceful and gorgeous surroundings. Funny how that works.
We unfortunately don’t get that famous sound of a tuning fork from the start of the film, but the rumbling bass strings and other effects that seemingly mimic the sound of a revving chainsaw motor should provide plenty of unsettling thoughts. Not to mention the other weird wailing sounds that no doubt enhance the frantic cat-and-mouse gameplay that’s in store for players.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre arrives in 2023 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on Xbox and PC.
