Another Netflix series is no more, as we’ve learned that the brand new horror series “1899” – which just premiered back in November – has already been axed after a single season.
The horror-mystery series was from the creators of Netflix’s “Dark,” billed as a “visually stunning Odyssee where nothing is as it seems” and starring Emily Beecham.
In Netflix’s “1899,” “On their journey across the vast and treacherous Atlantic Ocean, the passengers of the Kerberos encounter the biggest mystery of their lives.”
Joe Lipsett wrote in his 4-star review for BD, “1899 is a polished, compelling period mystery. There’s plenty of intrigue wrapped up in the events of the disappearing ship, as well as the diverse cast of characters whose futures become intertwined in its reappearance.” Joe also raved in his review, “There’s nothing else quite like 1899 on TV right now.”
“1899” came from creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese.
The duo said in a statement today, “We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned. That’s life. We know this will disappoint millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that you were part of this wonderful adventure.”
