Gamers have had a lot of “simulator” titles over the past while, so leave it to Liquid Static Studio to add a horror slant to something as mundane as driving a bus. Available now on Steam, Night Bus puts you behind the wheel, and you’ll quickly realize that this is no lazy drive.
In a “hyper-realistic representation of 1999 New Zealand”, aka that glorious low-poly aesthetic that so many itch.io games have used to perfection, it’s your first day on the job as a bus driver (after the previous drivers “quit”). Your job is simple: pick up passengers, take their fares, and drop them off at their desired stops. You can enjoy the beautiful countryside, cute sheep, and charming New Zealand architecture. Sure, the weather might turn rainy, but that’s just nature. Just remember to use your CCTV bus monitoring system to keep an eye on your passengers, and remember to ignore That Which Has No Eyes.
Throughout the night, you’ll be making decisions that impact how the story unfolds. You can choose to proceed as any normal person would, or you can be a jerk and “accidentally on purpose” miss stops. You even have seven interactable objects to make use of while you’re on the road! Night Bus features four possible endings for you to discover.
