Don’t open the door. That’s a vital tenet in horror; opening a door when a threat lurks outside ends in bad news. That’s precisely the dilemma the characters are facing in this Bloody Disgusting exclusive clip for Blumhouse and EPIX’s horror-comedy Unhuman.
Unhuman will be available on June 3, 2022 for digital purchase from Paramount Home Entertainment.
In the film, “The dead will have this club for breakfast. Blumhouse Television and EPIX bring you the story of a high school field trip gone bloody awry. Seven misfit students must band together against a growing gang of unhuman savages. The group’s trust in each other is tested to the limit in a brutal, horrifying fight to survive and they must take down the murderous zombie-creatures… before they kill each other first.”
The bloody Breakfast Club-like film is written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV, V, VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, The Collector) and directed by Dunstan.
Dunstan’s Into the Dark: Pilgrim collaborator Peter Giles breaks one of horror’s most tested rules in the clip below. Giles plays the clueless field trip chaperone that defies his students’ pleas to keep the bus door closed. Survival odds may not be in his favor. With blood splattered across the windshield and fog surrounding the bus, it spells trouble, especially as a menacing silhouette approaches.
The clip encapsulates Dunstan’s blend of humor and bloody violence and gives a quick glimpse at the archetypical teens facing danger. It’s only the beginning of this field trip nightmare. Navigating the social hierarchy and hells of high school has never been more daunting in this kill or be killed setting.
Unhuman stars Brianne Tju (“I Know What You Did Last Summer”), Benjamin Wadsworth (Teen Wolf: The Movie), Uriah Shelton (Freaky), Ali Gallo (“The Sex Lives of College Girls”), and Drew Scheid (Halloween 2018).
