“True Detective” is coming back to HBO for a fourth season and Deadline brings us word this afternoon that Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs) will star in the new season!
Announced back in March, “True Detective: Night Country” is the title for Season 4, with Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid) on board to write the brand new season.
Deadline details, “The series is centered around Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro who are looking to solve the case of six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanishing without a trace, when the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska.
“The pair will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
Barry Jenkins (“The Underground Railroad”) is producing Season 4.
This will be the show’s first season without creator Nic Pizzolatto. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson return as executive producers, with Foster also exec producing.
“True Detective” premiered on HBO back in 2014, with the stellar first season being followed by second and third seasons that didn’t quite garner the same acclaim as that initial outing.
